Cold Brew is a posthumous collection of instrumental rock music from Sam Mehran recorded in Los Angeles between April and May 2018.
Originally, I was commissioned to create 4 music videos for the release (Cold Brew, Loungy, 70, & Clashy). For these singles, I sampled Youtube videos that Sam loved and edited them together with a blend of digital feedback, lasers, and analog texturing.
The remaining 12 videos were generated with a couple of live performances. For these live visual takes, I programmed a MIDI controller and twisted knobs as the album unfolded. I was simultaneously processing the MIDI performance with my laser and analog video synthesizer.
